MONSTER EG RELOADED !
1st of June 2007
I personally thought year 2007 was the end of Monster EG building. After all these show tour has finish, it was time to hit the track. But looking at last year Super Lap and seeing this whole circuit scene, it has been growing and getting to another level.
So it was time to get a new car and start again or keep the EG and do something else. A few decisions had to be made but the car meant so much to me, I couldnt just sell it, it's a part of me and I have to do it again, so it has to be this EG ! ! ! !
And so the car was stripped down last year, a lot of parts were sold and still selling. Parts hunting mission was started mid year 2007 for this extreme make over, something bigger than ever before.
In NZ, we are always trailing behind from the Japanese or American scene. K Series swap has been out for few years now, lots of development has been done, lots of parts have been designed. The future Hondas are K Series, all the new cars are born with K Motors with Hondas. With all these developments, engine mount kits, drivehshaft kits readily available, conversion is like a walk in the park! It's easily done compared with a few years back, where everything had to be custom.
The engine going with the build, is built from the States but is re-assemmbled here, which we really look forward to. Its a Sleeve K24 , running high compression pistons also with NOS. If we dont get the power we will shoot the power. It's just a backup for straight line power, it might corner well but wouldn't pull in some Turbo cars in the straight or cut the time down just by pure NA !
Car is now back to shell, since the motor came out, getting ready for a full refreshment plan, which includes seam welding, custom cage and the Jtune very spl " Body reinforcement kit ". This should turn the EG into a very strong rigid body, so it will take on the power.
Even with the last year at 150kws at wheels, the chassis wasn't up to the power.
Body Styling will be a full make over as well, it will run a full wide body, GT wing,
full undertray and a carbon diffuser for the rear, Aero dynamics will be taken to account.
This build is no different compared to the Time Attack Cars built overseas, well just dont have a big company fun support or sponsored. Also we are just doing it for fun, more like building a trolley racer type of thing.
Before this car makes a start on full progress, we are first building a Honda EP3 with K24 first, just to see what it can make on our Dyno in New Zealand. There are few hardcore K series build and in progess in our local scene but HEY thas nothing new.
Hopefully this project will be up and running and racing about mid year 2009, sounds far away but thats like round the corner!
I would like to Thank all the Shops, companies, staffs, friends and family thats has supported, helped and still helping outt on the project, wecouldn't make it this far without all these supporters.
Thank you
