DYWLKR started off as a JDM 1996 TypeR Integra that was bought with circuit spec from Japan, after a few years of owning this car, we decided it was time, we should do a bit of straight line racing.

The B18C was taken out and swapped for a B20 mated with a P72 creating a 2.0L DOHC VTEC frankenstein combo.  Making over 300hp with the new TWM Induction setup.

Whats the common question on this car? How reliable is a B20 VTEC on stock sleeve?

Well, if they can take on 200kw Turbo on stock sleeve, with a well balanced and tuned NA build i'll say it's strong enough. Key to this build was a strong focus on the bottomend building which everyone gets worried about.

Bottomend was well balanced and also reinforcement elements such as aftermarket cridle and block brace was put in to keep it together with no chance it will throw a rod and revv stable.

Oil Pump has been upgraded to supply more pressure, a Custom flywheel was also used, since it was a drag car it needed more torque off the line then just revv and peak power.

Considered is a 2.0L it wil have plenty of torque and Power compare to a 1.8, take a look at the B16 compare with a B18C with extra 200cc it makes alot more different, went i say that it means over 100kw before VTEC or roughly 5000rpms and it goes up to the soft limter at 9300rpm !

The orginial set up was running a Skunk TypeR Style Intake with a spoon 70mm tb, filters by a Mugen Intake and out the Pro 4 into 1 extractor and Trust Power extreme Exhaust.

After we test run was made and tuning was carefully relooked at, we found another extra 8kw by playing with the Skunk Pro cam gears but at the same time we found the intake becomes the restriction for more power and exhaust is only just keeping up with the engne flow

So plan was made and system has to change.

TWM quad throttle was the first card to play, with 50mm at each cylinder it should be plenty for air flow for the engine to breath, a Hytec Stylz header was also the part of the package and a custome Jtune Design exhaust for maximum peak power !

And because is running quad throttle with Apexi Power FC, it was alittle harder to tune, so ecu was upgrade to a EMS Stinger Unit which has more feature and more parameter on tuning to be made ( and ill tell u what , is a awsome unit ).

After all the parts been upgraded it was back on the dyno for another tune.

Surely it gain power over the parts that were orignially fitted and it was such a surprise there were still power to gain after it ran 12.8 at import all start with only a 2.0 60ft at crossing the line at 178km/h

Since we are getting more power and targetting at better time, Car was lighten by stripping few bits out and also a new Front bumper was custom made by Mark at Slipstream Performance base in Taranga. A full front filled bumper with a half cover undertray was replace to minimize drag and more stop the engine bay scooping air, which gain anothe 2ks of top speed over the bumper that was on the car

Since we have now lighten up the car and more power We ran into another issues " TRACTION " more power no traction !

Over the off season, suspension and tires will relook at again and make the improvement.

Also due to some family commmitment, in the 07-08 season it stay in the garage for most of the night speed drag war

Keep an eye out next season
